Stave blanks are air dried for up to a year.

Staves are shaped on the shaving horse using a draw knife.

Stave angles are formed by drawing the stave over a inverted hand plane.

Staves are "raised" to form the container.

A croze (grove) is cut using a croze cutter.

Oak is rived(split) with a froe and mallet.

After hoops are formed and fitted the container is cleaned up and oiled.
